Cheap beats and leases, are they really worth it?

Simple answer....sometimes. Lots of producers at many levels offer intro priced beats or like us have a wide range of options so that no artist is excluded from working with us due to price. There are good cheap beats to buy and to lease out there, but the problem is, is that they are mixed in with tens of thousands of whack, lame and amateur beats made by someone who's just starting out, or who isn't up on their game yet. This just means that you should not settle on any cheap beat until you've listened to many. Don't settle, ever, hunt for those diamonds! They are out there fam! If you want to minimize the effort on this, just save some paper up and bump your bracket up price wise. The slightly higher priced beats are usually priced that way for a reason. The cats that make them and price them up a little know what they got. Generally speaking these beats in the mid ranges, of pricing, are the best bet if you are a serious artist looking to take it up but don't want to have to get a loan. They also usually have more options for artists and the extra coin you spend in the end is well worth it. You have nicely mastered beats to work over and professional support from professional producers. Try to work with the best you can afford, but without getting sucked in to the price traps. Some dudes out there just overprice their beats to see if artists will bite. Generally they are the same or less quality than the midrange beats. We price our beats according to a system we have developed over the last decade and a half. They are graded on many levels and then priced out objectively and honestly. Look for experienced cats who work this way and you'll get the fyre. Doing your homework is key. Talk to the producers if you have questions. Most are friendly and happy to talk it up about their trax. We've cut folks unreal deals in the past just cuz we like their sounds and wanted to work with them, but they didn't have the scratch to lay out for a whole album or EP. Get a rapport going with the producers you want to work with. You will find that most of us are easygoing and will do a lot for artists with initiative and drive. Remember it can't hurt to ask...Stay Blessed!
